Family Petition

A Family Petition (Form I-130) is the process by which a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident sponsors a foreign-born relative to immigrate to the United States. The form establishes the family relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary, allowing the relative to apply for a green card. It establishes the family relationship and  and once approved, the petition moves the relative closer to obtaining lawful permanent residence in the U.S.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Petitioner’s Status: You must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
